We are thrilled to share the inspiring journey behind our remarkable textile installation, "Símbolos Universales," a testament to the fusion of cultural heritage and artistic collaboration. This extraordinary artwork, now an esteemed part of the US Department of State's collection, has found its place in the heart of Guatemala City, embodying the essence of Mayan symbolism in a modern context.

"Símbolos Universales" draws its essence from the profound symbolism of the Mayan culture. The project reflects a powerful message – what is ancient can be contemporary, what is universal is indivisible, and amidst our differences, we discover unity.

In the midst of the pandemic's challenges, our vision took shape through collaboration with gifted Guatemalan artisans. Over a span of three years, the project evolved from a mere idea into a tangible masterpiece. We partnered with artisans in Momostenango who spun the finest wool and collaborated with the NGO Creamos, providing women near the Guatemala City landfill with a means to embroider the wool onto metal mesh. This collaboration not only gave life to our vision but also supported these women with income, education, healthcare, and gender equality.

This project is a proud participant in the Art in Embassies Program by the Department of State, standing 3 meters by 6 meters in dimensions, crafted from wool and wire mesh, a true embodiment of Guatemala's artistic and cultural heritage.
